If it is set to play automatically, then each slide will have a
transition time as part of its transition settings.

You'd need to adjust that.

If you go to slide sorter view and select all slides (press Ctrl + A)
you can adjust times for all of them at once.

If it is clear how to do that, let us know what version of PowerPoint
you use.
