Office - Office 07-Vista: Code 52F Failed updates for all 5 covering Office

Getting the following errors for the latest 5 updates covering Office 2007:

Office 2007 (5)
- Security Update for Excel 2007 (KB934670)
- Security Update for Office 2007 (KB934062)
- Update for Office 2007 (KB934393)
- Update for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB934655)
- Update for Word 2007 (KB934173)

Failed: 5 updates
Error(s) found:
Code 52F
* when you click help it displays "WindowsUpdate_0000052F
WindowsUpdate_dt000"


I got this going through the standard automated Windows Update process.  I
also tried to install the updates manually by downloading the executables.
They also failed.

The last Office component update that was successful was on 4/15/07, "Update
for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB932338)"

Looking at Help About under Outlook 2007, the version # is (12.0.4518.1014)
MSO (12.0.4518.1014).  Vista version: 6.0, Build 6000

I believed I resolved the problem, but not sure which of the actions I took
was the solution.  I opened the WindowsUpdate.log file and was able to
associate the 52F code with MSI Install error = 0x80070643.  That led me to
Windows Installer Error = 1327.  When you look at Microsoft's MSDN Windows
Installer Error Message webpage
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa372835.aspx), the code translates
to "Invalide Drive: [2]".  I then realized that being my laptop is a new Dell
and had an MS Office trial install on it when I first received the machine.
I figure something went wrong when I uninstalled it to install a purchased
DVD version of Office 2007.  So I placed the DVD version of Office 2007 in
the DVD drive thinking I was going to try the manual updates again and see if
it looked for the Office DVD.  But at that point, which I am still kicking
myself because I am not sure this was the solution, I was distracted by some
other issue and when I returned I kept investigating the issue.  I then came
across another solution from a MS developer or tech blog site (lost the link)
and they suggested a problem with the MS updater in manual mode that will be
corrected in the future.  The blog suggested changing the MS windows update
(In control panel) setting from any other setting (I had "Check for updates
but let me choose whether to download and install them) to "Install updates
automatically (recommended)".   According to the blog, in this mode, it
ignores the error.  Well anyway I tried it, forgetting that I still had the
Office 2007 DVD in the DVD drive, and IT WORKED !.

So I am not sure which of the two solutions fixed the problem, so I am going
to switch it back to my "Check for updates" mode and remove the Office 2007
DVD and see if another MS Office 2007 update comes down the pipe to replicate
the problem unless MS fixed the whole mess.

By the way, I was planning to completely remove MS Office 2007 from the
laptop and erase the C:\MSOCache directory, if it was still present after the
uninstall, and then re-install MS Office 2007 thinking it would remove any
possible remnants of the initial MS Office trial version installed.  But I
didn't have to go that far.  So now I will wait to see for the next Office
2007 updates.

If the above doesn't work for you, I saw another possible solution dealing
with the Office Source Engine (OSE) service and the same update error, but it
dealt with Office 2003.  Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to try according to the
