Office - Works9.msi file on pre-loaded PC

Asked By InNeedofHEL on 28-Aug-08 10:41 PM
Trying to update Works9 to Office 2007. Asking me to install works9 Disk.
However, no disk because it is a new PC and Works was preloaded. It is
specifically looking for "works9.msi"

Any idea on where I can find "works9.msi"?

SOLVED. Spent the $45 to purchase a stand alone copy of MS Works 9.0 to get
the physical disk and file. Upgrade happened in seconds. Disappointed I had
to shell out another $45 because neither MS nor HP could offer a solution.

What happens if you open a command prompt window and type "dir /s
c:\works9.msi" into it?

(I find that this is still by far the fastest way to find files, so much
for Windows's Search Assistant and Desktop Search and what-have-you)

Nice tip, but the free Agent Ransack is still twice as fast in my quick
test.

I typed in the command "dir /s c:\works9.msi" and it found "works9.msi" in directory "c:\Program Files\Toshiba\WORKSSETUP\MSWORKS" on my toshiba laptop. I was able to repair msworks successfully without purchasing the software which was already included on the laptop. Thanks for the tip!
